Hey Everyone!

I am looking to buy a camera soon so i can capture the great colors of my favia and add to my thread! Any ideas on what to buy around the $200 range that can get pics of red and yellows in a biocube

Canon EOS70D We purchased the camera a little over a year ago at Costco in a packaged deal. The purchase was about $1400 but wow the picture are great. I have only scratch the surface of the potential of the camera, but when taking shots of the tank I use the SCN setting with no flash and use the multi frame night mode

Wow these pictures are very nice and I have heard great things about the 70D how are you shots under actinic lighting when playing around with white balance?

So far I use an iPhone 5 with the procamera app. I'll also use an orange gel filter if my lights are in sunrise or sunset mode

I've added two examples of a zoa with reds and yellows. The first under just blue LEDs and the second just after the whites came on.

Do you have an underwater case? And what are the orange gels? I cannot capture reds in actinic lighting on any of my cameras iphone includex

No on the underwater case. The app improves the iPhone's zoom from 3x to 6x and gives you manual control over focus, exposure, and white balance. A lot more but those are the ones that really matter.

Those shots are at 50% white, 100% blue LED, I was using the flash and I would not get the true color in the Green boxed A+ setting. When I switched to the SCN with the night setting with all of the lights out in the room I get the clearest picture. Unlike a phone picture the pictures taken on a camera such as a canon 70D have a bunch more pixels and can be cropped with a greater detail. I asked another member and I would have to go back and do some research in my posts what lens they were using. It was different from the lens's I bought my camera in my package deal, and if I remember the lens had more zoom and little bit more of a range of detail. Dose the answer your question?

Gel filter is just fancy photo lingo for clear colored plastic. I keep mine in the phone case so I. Can always find it. Orange are best for blocking blues out to capture good color

Take a look at the Canon Elph series. They take fairly nice photos, their small and you can make some tweaks on the camera to improve you shots.

Wow that is some sicl feeding shots of your trunpets

I like canon and a great benefit is that Nikon lenses can work on them my macro is a Nikon lens
