I have an acro in the tank that has been doing well for over a year. It started out as a 1"-2" frag & is now about 4" tall with multiple branches & an encrusted base about 3"-4" across. Over the weekend the edges of the base turned white (like STN). It is about the first 1/8" or so.

Is it dying? Should I remove if from the rock & re-glue it somewhere else?

I think I shocked it. I added a rock a little while back & it started leeching phosphates. It got up to .25. I removed it & within 2 days I was at .07 (all with Hanna Low Phosphate checker).

That was at the beginning of last week.

(I also had 1 frag die & 2 others start to STN, that I cut off & reglued to plugs)

For me, my experience with SPS is limited primarily because I run lps/ softie. However, the sps that I have had that did similar STN needed some sort of intervention. If I did nothing I lost the coral. So my vote is to frag the tips. We will see what others say as well
