I'm debating on buy the biocube oceanic protein skimmer ( mixed review on how it works) Or a bigger CUC from reefcleaners.org my current CUC is 1 hermit 1 turbo 1 nass snail I was thinking if I did more frequent WC's it would make up for the protein skimmer until I get some. Just want to see what others think on this matter I have a 29 gallon biocube.

CUC eats algae. A skimmer removes dissolved organics before they turn into nitrate. Two completely different things.

I have heard that the biocube skimmer doesn't work.

So would frequent WC's make up for the protein skimmer all in all i'm hearing different things from everyone I don't know what to do :)

IMO frequent H2O changes would help maintain H2O quality if you run a skimmerless system but you can't really say they would replace a skimmer. Both H2O changes & a skimmer remove dissolved organic compounds but in different ways. IMO a good protein skimmer is a great investment & I wouldn't run any system larger than 10 gallons without one......HTH
