hey guys.. I've got a few questions.
My tank isn't doing the best. I've got some stringy algae happening on the glass. Every day. My mag float took a crap on me so I need to get a new one. But I'm using my scraper in the front.
I believe I just noticed a little but if cyano on a frag plug.
My corals aren't dying, but they're not really thriving. Duncan, frogspawn and torch coral all haven't been fully expanded for a while now. Zoas aren't growing.
I also have crap in my sandbed- literally. I cannot figure out how to get my powerheads aimed to fix that problem.
Do I need to add more cleanup crew? Maybe rearrange my rockscape? All I have is 1 Trochus, 1 zebra legged hermit, 1 blue legged hermit, and I believe only 1 scarlet hermit right now. Also a cleaner shrimp but I don't believe he contributes much besides eating the actual food.
I have only been doing 3 gallon water changes every two weeks. So I'm going to change that to 2 gallons every week. (20 gallon tank)
Nitrates- 0
Nitrites- 0
pH- 7.8-8.0
Ammonia- 0
Temp- 78
Salinity- 1.024
I don't have any other test kits.
Also- I was told when I bought my light "Aquatic Life" Model: LF2-30 I was told that the fixture was only a few months old. That was back in October.
Maybe it's time to change bulbs?
I actually don't really like the color of the bulb combination anyway. But maybe that would help my coral as well as far as growth and color?
I'm running an AquaClear 50 with floss and carbon for filtration.
ALSO- I had kind of an outbreak of sponges?? You can see them in the powerheads. Small and white.
Thoughts? Tips? Advice?
Not sure what to do to step forward.
