Need a little help.

I have never dosed my aquarium before, and I just recently started testing the water parameters for my corals. Somehow my Alkalinity is a little too high, 179ppm. How did this happen and how do I lower it?

179ppm is around 10dKH.
Depending on the salt you're using, it might be reasonable.

Did you observe your alk increase over time?
What are your other parameters show?
