Need a quick opinion on next tank size

I was planning on getting a 120g Aqueon tank that has dual overflow because it fit budget and I wanted the 48x24 footprint.

A tank locally just became available that is 100g peninsula. Its rimless instead of rimmed so thats nice. And it is still 48x24 footprint it is 20in tall though. The overflow comes off the back instead of being inside the tank.

Any reason I should stick with the 120 over the 100, any reason that I wouldnt want the overflow to be in the back like that. My only worry is I might not have an excellent place for a peninsula style one at the moment but I could always use it as a normal style tank until I have a good spot for it to stick out into.

This is the 100g tank. The 120g would just be a standard aqueon one.

Only a 20 gl difference. I like the iron stand as gives You a lot of room under the tank . Is the price right ? I have a 75 with the over flow at one end no problems there . Also the tank looks brand new that's good. Does the aqueon have the internal overflows? They take up a lot of room. There are a "lot" of differing things to consider.

So...IMHO this is a personal and financial decision. I have had a peninsula tank (150) I did have some flow issues in the beginning, nothing some powerheads did not take care of. It sounds to me like the new 120 might fit your location a little better. If the price is the same personally I would go for the new tank as the peninsula has a limited area that would correctly fit the tank.

The 120 would def fit the space better. But it does have the internal overflows not the outside one. Its also rimmed with a center brace vs rimless

Again, it is a personal preference I have an older acrylic tank with the returns on the inside of the tank and not on the back. I thought about cutting them out and sealing the holes in the bottom of the tank and drilling new overflows, then I though about how much work it was to polish the tank and though better of it. My tank has lots of bracing at the top. I dont plan on having a canopy so I raised the tank so the top is 70" I wont be able to see the top of the tank at all. I will hang Kessell light from a pendant system and if there is too much light "leaking" from the tank then I will build a canopy to help but the plan is for it to be suspended and not on top of the tank. These are all things to think about as you decide.

imo, you're not going to notice the loss of 4 inches of height. the difference in water volume isnt really that big of a deal either. the rimless is a nice bonus but you MIGHT have issues with water overflowing depending you your plan for flow... which leads me to my next point: are you going to set up this tank as a peninsula? the external overflow that is external (big bonus) might get old if its showing. if not, i wouldn't. however, depending on price, i would go with the peninsula because im a sucker for peninsula tanks, built in external overflows, and rimless tanks. oh, i would totally set it up for 3 sides viewable.
