Need a second heater for in-lin?

Hey now. I’m gonna be using an in-line hydor heater (200w) for my 40 gallon breeder. Should I use a second heater in tank just in case or is the in-line e good enough. I know if it was regular ol’ quartz heaters I’d be using 2. Just not sure with in-line

Even with a good quality inline heater, there's no guarantee of problem-free operation. In the end, a controller that controls the heater and alerts you to any malfunction is "real" safety. Anything else is just plug-and-pray. There are cheapo units like Inkbird, but I'd take the 10 year approach and go with an Apex.

I didn’t know apex made a heating controller

Apex heater control info:

Heater Programed in Apex as backup to auto thermostat.

I have a tetra heater that is auto set to 78. I'd like to set up apex as a redundancy if it every stays in the on position for Apex to shut it off after 82. This is how I have it setup in apex but when I set it to auto the heater says it's off and the temp will get down below 76 without it...
