Not bad to clean at all. I've got the smaller version that's 12" in diameter and over 6' tall and cleaning is a breeze. Just remove the number of wing nuts around the acrylic and remove top section and clean in my utility sink. Inside the PVC it stays really clean because no light is getting in.
