I have 3 Red Sea ReefLED 90s over a 120 gallon tank, and am trying to grow Acros in the top half of the tank.

They’re good enough lights, but I’m really wanting to see a more vivid pop in different color corals than I’m getting. I guess I’m looking for that full black light “glow” effect that allows representation of the different colors of the Acros.

I’m worried that the all blue and white nature of the ReefLEDs is too limiting. Does anyone have any suggestions to augment them with other options? Would replacing the middle one with a Radion help with more vivid colors? Maybe an additional AI Blade glow across near the front of the tank. Are there better options?

The Red Sea LEDs have a narrow spectrum, I’ve run them. The blues are kind of purple. Coverage from modular lights is also pretty poor for acropora.

Adding LED bars, like reefbrite, orphek, or quanta will give you what you’re looking for as far as fluorescent pop. It will also give you much better coverage. Radion is a superior light, and has a wider spectrum.

I would add the LED bars first, and eventually consider moving toward the Radions.
