Need Advice For 300g Dream Tank Build

Marineland are excellent tanks in my opinion. If you use their stand, the tank is guaranteed for life against failure. THATS ONLY IF YOU USE THEIR STAND. Another consideration is where the tank will set. A raised floor is far more risky then a concrete floor. A raised floor may need to be reinforced to hold all that weight.
I love the Marineland tanks.

My current 150g is a marineland tank and I've had zero issues with it. I just wasn't sure if it scaled well. I think once you move past 180g the craftsmanship of the tank is essential. I didn't know about the stand requirements, but it makes sense. Even Reef Savy has a stand requirement with their warranty. I have a concrete floor so no issues there. I'll keep you posted.

Not to discount Mike&Terry's horrible experience, but I have had my 300dd running with out issues for about a year and a half. A good friend of mine had hers running for 5 years then won the 300dd at MACNA last year, moved homes and has had that 300 up with out issue for about 5 months. Plus, I know of at least 4 other local reefers that have had a 300 over 4-5 years. Also, I would check with Marineland about other stands. My understanding if it's a manufactured stand and not a DIY then the tank is still under warranty. The stand I use and several others have used in replace of the Marineland's come from R&J aquatics out of Jacksonville.

She won a 300g DD! Oh my gosh, I would go crazy if that happen to me. I am actually going to look at a local marineland 300g DD setup to see if the marineland stand height is good for me. I will definitely look at R&J aquatics too because this is going to be in my living room so I want it to look like a nice piece of furniture. The great thing about this entire project is I can take as long as I need to so it is done right. Maybe I'll win a 300g DD at Reef-a-Polooza next year

I recently went through looking at various aquarium builders as well, although for a much smaller tank. The quote I got from Miracles was more than Reef Savvy! Anyway, two other builders for you to consider is SC Aquariums and Oceans by Design. I ended up ordering my tank through Oceans by Design. It'll be about 5-6 weeks before I get it.

Thanks for the information and some more possible builders. I want to get the garage converted first, but from a planning perspective I would just feel better knowing how much money I need to save. The engineer in me loves the planning almost as much as a well executed plan. I'd like to see your tank once you get it.

Sound like fun until you realize you're in Denver and you need to move a 300dd back to Tampa. lol

If I were to build my "dream" tank, again, hehe I would probably go back to at least an 8 foot tank. I had a 260g 96x24x27 running for about 5 years and I'm really missing the length. If you have the room you may want to consider a longer tank.

I wish I could do an 8ft tank, but I just can't fit it in and still get my chair around it. The layout below has the walls I care about with the current 150g location.
