Need advice for Stocking a Nano

Are you currently running a skimmer? Because if not you have a pretty well stocked tank for no skimmer.
No I'm not. I'm still planning to get one in the near future

Oh and I forgot to mention. I have a rock flower anemone and a porcelian anemone crab

Hopefully my last question, I just had a run in with an indestructible form of algae in my freshwater set up, it didn't hurt anything, just covered the sand and glass and made everything look horrible. How have you kept that from happening in your set up so far?

I also have freshwater. If you can post a pic it would help. Sounds like it could be cyanobacteria, which is just photosynthetic bacteria. I think I have some weird dinoflaggeletes in my tank but I'm not sure yet

Ill look into that on too. Also, would you recommend your firefish for this setup?
Sorry I missed this one. Yes I 100% reccomend any firefish for this tank. But you have to keep the lid one since jumping is basically the leading cause of death for them. I got a 1 in a 1000000 firefish because it's the most aggressive fish I've ever seen. Quote from some one a while back. "Some people would pay an arm and a leg for a firefish that isn't afraid of it's own shadow." I'm sure this will change in a couple months as my clown grows and he will be the "**** on the block"

I had hoped it would have been photosynthetic only but blackouts didn't seem to affect it very much. From reading up it did seem to correlate pretty closely to cyano. It was just one of the more annoying things I had experienced due to the fact that immediately after I would go in and remove some of it that was carpeting the sand, it would have already started to regrow...no joke it was that quick.

Lol oops it censored. It said the other name for rooster [emoji6]. Heres a picture of my firefish. Not the most flattering pictures but they make do. They're hilariously always grumpy

Haha every fish out there sounds like there can be a good and bad side to them. The lid for the Fluval EVO completely covers the top except for one part that is kept open as the "easy access feeding hatch". Hopefully its small enough that it doesn't encourage jumping. Also could you ever go as far as a dottyback or blenny in a 12? Or is that pushing it.

I feel you... just do a ton of large water changes that's what solved mine [emoji106]also constant removal. Theres apparently a product called chemi clean I think that can eliminate is saltwater idk about fresh

I'm not sure about dottybacks... but I'm sure theres a blenny out there that can live in a 13 gallon

Like the tail spot blenny

Do firefish do well together? Like instead of doing one clown and one firefish maybe pick one species and do a pair? Or maybe I do a clown and that hawkfish because that little guy is really growing on me. Options options....

I know that some firefish can live in pairs.. and trios arent unheard of either. But you would need a bonded male female pair I assume. Or get lucky with getting a Male and female. I don't know how to ID genders but I would really like to know now that I think about it

A bonded pair in a nano would look really cool, same with the clowns though. My goal originally was to get a pair of clowns and then get them to host an anenome but those cost a pretty penny and if they don't host...

That was my plan to. A single chunk of live rock in the middle, a decent sized bubble tip anemone, and a pair of designer clowns. But a mixed reef is so much better

Also do you siphon your sand? Because from here it looks spectacularly clean.

A pair will do well together

Those pics were when the tank was pretty new. And yes I do. Gravel vac whenever i do a water change. Right now I'm battling some really bad what I think is Dino on my sand bed. It took over one of my zoas heads so now I'm really heated. Could be a low nutrient problem perhaps

New person question... What is dino?

Think I mentioned before, dinoflaggeletes. Completely butchered the spelling I'm guessing. It's like cyano in your freshwater but worse because it kills stuff
