I plan on making it into a reef eventually

Here’s my two cents, full and fair disclosure...I am not a design expert! If you’re doing a full blown reef you’re going to want to make sure you have room for future growth and you’ll also want to make sure you can clean the sides easily or it’ll be a pain in the behind. If it were me, I’d break off the little part that sticks up on the right rock and then maybe glue it in front of the same rock to make a small cave. That would give you a little more room to clean the right side and it could create some interesting areas for fish to swim through and corals to grow over. Looks awesome though! Good luck!

I would add more of a gradient, you've got 2 similar levels and then the tank bottom. Doesn't give you much wiggle room for coral placement

I like a section of rock to go as high as a couple inches below water line. And then build lower from there. Get more rock

DON'T go high. Build to the middle or just slightly above. The reason is room for upward coral growth.

I would work on it allot more. I made the mistake of laying rocks and just going for it. Looking back at it, that was the worst thing I could have done.

I agree, add more space to attach coral too. Perhaps connect the two islands with a rock bridge?

Bond pieces together to create solid formations. Emarco 400 mortar is great for this.

I guess it depends if you want a realistic look or want to just grow corals. Go upward and make frag ledges out of epoxy where you want to place corals look much better than staying low and flat.
