My wall hammer was being stung by a chalice, and I did not notice until it was too late. It seems to have a somewhat Healthy side, and an increasingly bad side.

Should I cut this in two, perhaps dip the healthy side in Lugols, in hopes of saving a portion of it?

Please help.

If I cut it, is there any hope for the damaged side?

It seems to have a naturally pinched form, and has always had two distinct mouths, so I'm hoping.....

Its a major risk, cutting could cause more stress and damage that could kill the healthy part but leaving it alone could allow it to spread. Tough call, I personally would try to a few dips before jumping to surgery.

Ugh. It was a gift from my wife. ☹️

Cutting is best in my experience. Any time that I've ignored necrosis on walls, it just gradually advanced.

I cut it; made a video. A first. Be gentle. LOL
