Hi guys. My icp test came back showing that my iodine levels r low. Just wanna get some advice on which brand of iodine to use for dosing?
I take issue with some of those nonsense chemical claims, such as there being such a thing as an intermediate form between organic and inorganic forms of I, and I am not convinced of the huge import they claim for it, but iodide dosing is easy and doing it as an experiment is a good plan.
I don’t think brand matters much, but I’d avoid Lugols as it is a reactive and potentially toxic/irritating form.
I use Seachem and it works well. 1-2 drops per 100/G daily is safe starting dose. If you’re fairly low, do 2-3 drops, but of course test every 4 weeks to make sure you’re going in the right direction and not overdosing. Adjust accordingly.
I use the Red Sea iodine, so called Trace Colors A. It’s the only Red Sea product I use and picked it up because it was convenient. It’s works, iodine in subsequent ICP was in the good range, I noticed no ill affects.
