Need advice on Low iodine and Acropora.

My acros are all growing and have decent PE. I have noticed some color loss on newer frags. Meaning they were brighter when I got them than they are in my tank currently.

I sent out my first ICP test and here are the results. Slightly elevated aluminum for whatever reason (probably phosguard). I use Red Sea blue bucket salt. My iodine is low. Read mixed reviews on whether iodine has a significant impact on color or not. What do you think? #reefsquad

Considering ordering the Triton iodine supplement as well as the red sea pro test kit.

Or if you see something else that needs addressed let me know.

When I sent out my 1st ATI test, it came back low iodine as well. I dosed some to bring it up but only occasionally after bringing it up. I sent in another test to a different company and it came back a little high. I think I really need to get a great kit for it as well...

It's been proven time and time again that it's not necessary to supplement in order to have an incredible tank and coral coloration. I'd suggest not worrying about your level, nor supplementing. Also, your fish food has iodine so you're likely adding it every day already.

Iodine (mostly iodide) gets taken up quickly by algae. All my tritons have had low iodine and I dose regularly. I wouldn’t worry as long as it detects some.

IME iodine test kits are too inaccurate to be useful. I have tried both Red Sea and Salifert.

Don’t waste money on Triton iodine, at 32 bucks for 100ml, it’s highway robbery...I use ESV and TLF. Any iodide will do.

I sent in a test which came back reading low almost at zero.
My montis were loosing color they were getting very pale, dosed iodine as recommended and color back on all of them within 1 week. The reds in my tank really intensified aswell.

All my tests come back with the same thing.. I dose it once monthly even though it gets used up very quickly. I just hate dosing something I can test for and monitor. Color doesn't seem to be an issues with most of my corals. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I would attribute the color loss on new frags to stress (either from the cut or to being moved into a new tank). Likely the latter since all the frags I cut seem to retain their color but new additions sometimes lose their color and take a long while to get it back.

I suspect the newer additions are just adjusting to your tank. I've read a good number of posts related to iodine and have never seen one that could attribute anything specifically to iodine levels. I haven't had an ICP run in about a year but the past four were: 0, 11, 0, and 26 (first three were Triton and the last ATI) but I do larger water changes now and imagine it's higher than it has been in the past.
