Need advice on new ammonia spiking fast

Hi.
I have a new nano a couple of months old. I’ve recently added a few new fish (about 5) all little fish to a stable Cpl mths old brand new Red Sea nano max tank. It’s been roughly 1 week & I today read my seneye to find Ammonia spiked from stable NH3 from 0.001 to today 0.030 & over the last few hours only spiking quickly to 0.030 then 0.038 now 0.045. I’m guessing it’s on its way up & isn’t going to stop. I have live rock, live sand added 1 mth ago to bare bottom in beginning & a small bag of media placed under the skimmer. It looks like I’ve added to many fish in 1 go & im wanting to know if there’s anything I can do now immediately to lower of stop the spike without having to take some fish out temporarily. I now have a black clown, 1 yellow watchman goby, a new pink spotted goby, a new pyjama fish, new clown goby, chocolate goby, new lawnmower sand sifter and a tiny chromis. 2 young mandarin fish and a small cucumber. 2 shrimp with the 2 watchman goby’s. Maybe too much for a nano. I’ve a 4 ft tank as well I could put the pink spotted watchman into but doubt I could find his tiny shrimp.
Help how can I stop this spiking any further!!

I'm pretty sure the Seneye is able to pickup trace ammonia levels that are of no concern.

Safe: up to 0.02 ppm (or up to 0.25 ppm of total ammonia)
Alert: up to 0.05 ppm (or up to 0.63 ppm of total ammonia)
Alarm: up to 0.20 ppm (or up to 2.53 ppm of total ammonia)
Toxic: up to 0.50 ppm (or up to 6.33 ppm of total ammonia)

Note: The above total ammonia levels were rounded to the nearest hundredth, and computed assuming 1.026 sg, 8.2 pH, and 80° F.

The seneye I’ve used from day one & after cycling has never read higher than 0.001

It’s 0.045 currently. Water change 1st I’m guessing! It’s just spiked from 0.030 to 0.045 in the last hour or so.

I also notice the water surface is very flat and your fish are all swimming up top. Better to point the powerhead at the surface to agitate and oxygenate the water.

It’s 0.045 currently. Water change 1st I’m guessing! It’s just spiked from 0.030 to 0.045 in the last hour or so.

The 5 fish are new all together added a week ago.

2 mandarins in your brand new tank? Did you research their needs before? They are labled at 'expert' fish....

Move some of the fish to the big tank. Why are you trying to pack all those into a 20G when you have a 55G or larger available?

It’s a nano max Red Sea.

Your tank is very overstocked.... with the wrong kinds of fish. Would suggest to return some of them if you can. Go slowly, stock the tank slowly, and do lots of research.

Yes I thought so. I could add the bigger pyjama fish & adult pink spotted watchman to my 4 ft tank but I’m worried I won’t find his shrimp. I nearly did add him to the 4 ft but decided on the nano thinking I’d never see him otherwise.

If the choice is between ammonia harming or killing your fish and separating a goby from a shrimp, the answer is easy.

Remove half the fish, perform a large water change and you should be OK for awhile, the fish I can see seem relatively young/small for now.

I’ve had them from the beginning and they’ve not only grown but are very happy. They’re great fish.

Yes I thought so. 10 small fish and 1 small cucumber. No aggression at all . All peaceful & quite happy but new pink spotted watchman obviously needs more space & sand rocks to be happy I can see.
