Need advice on tank center brace please!

So I just set up my new LED fixture, and I love it! The only problem is that I have a center brace connecting to the rim of the tank. It wasn't a problem with the greater spread of my old T5s, but blocks a decent amount of light with the LEDs. Can anyone shed some light on whether this brace can just be cut, or if it even is bracing anything at all?

tank is 30 gallon. Dims are 24 in by maybe 12-18 in. Bowfront. Glass is a bit under 1/4 inch

IMO, the brace is needed or why would the manufacture waste money to add it? If it were my tank, I would sleep better knowing the brace was intact.

Search around. I know there is a write up about tanks and at what gallonage they start too need bracing to counter the forces of the water pushing out on the tank.

I cut the center brace off a 46 gal. fw tank. the lid wouldn't fit because the tank bowed. I would'nt do It.
