Yup i made that grave mistake when i first started im thinking overdose on nutrients or some toxcicity from heavy metals live rock and substrate will absorb these and leach it out later on without notice and you will have a big problem thats why its important to test use carbon ozones or cupramine to strip em out

It might be a good idea to get a few spare ICP tests for later in case you come across an issue further down the line. I like to keep two on hand in case I run into mysterious trouble.

I use activated easier i could use actual wood charcoal but im lazy to cure it and filter it out for use

No, wood no good. Need lignite.
What organic do you use?

I dont use organic like i said wood takes too long to cure and filter out the coal for safe use in aquariums i dont have a source locally for organic compounds unfortunately[emoji17]

Idk heard of it kinda leary about it haha makes somewhat sense though as most vodkas are distilled with carbon there will be trace elements of it in the vodka but then again might just be getting drunk with your fish lol

If it’s any consolation I don’t see my tank for 3 months at a time, which means I don’t test for three months at a time...

Saying that I have long since given up testing for NO3/PO4 and I run a calcium reactor.

My poor wife is very kind to me and does help clean the skimmer while I am away.

Update: Everyone is doing good but Xenia(don’t mind). The hammer stop it’s tissue loss and the 2nd head is opening up more
