I have some very invasive pink ang gold palys that I am trying to get rid of. I offered them for free on localreef forums but no one picked them up. I didn’t just want to throw them out so I tossed them in my sump where they may eventually die. My concern is will they release palytoxins in the air when my water evaporates?

They may release what they have in them into the water collum. See if a LFS will take them.

I would try to post on craigslist as well. The LFS might take them too.

While I'm all for saving life/animals, I'm not sure I would craiglist palys unless I made sure whoever got them understood them properly.
The issues we have seen come from keeping them sometimes makes even me as a fairly knowledgeable reefer uncomfortable in keeping them, I'd hate to see them go to someone that has no idea of palytoxin.

Maybe I'm overly cautious in thinking this, but I'm fine w/ that, I'm not especially drawn to them anyway.

I may get some flack for saying what I would do, but personally I would discard them if I could not find someone that I knew understood them well enough.

I have GSP and Rainbow Clove Polyp that I keep in my displays. Both are very prolific and have to be culled periodically. No one wants them, including LFS's , so into the trash they go. There's no point in passing off a potential "invasion" to someone else. If you're concerned about them, let them go.
