Need advice

I have a mega flow 65 gallon tank with sump. I built the stand myself. I decided to up Grade from filter socks to filter Matt. My problem is I don’t have enough room to put the filter first so I have my protein filter then the reef Matt will this work? It’s been running for a couple days now tank looks clear. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about the roller mat, but as long as there is flow going through it rather than around it then this should work fine. It may mean you get some detritus buildup in skimmer area that you wouldn't otherwise get but I don't think a big deal.

Thanks I was thinking about putting a small pump to get water movement.
