need advise No More Fish in tank

Would like some advise. I have removed all my fish from my 180 and would like to focus on my corals. How much do the corals depend on the waste products and hosting from the fish? Am I going to need to dose any additional supplements now that I have removed the fish. Also would it be safe to remove the skimmer. I only have two sand sifter start fish and two other starfish. I usually do a 15 to 20% water change every week. Will I still need to keep changing water as often. Thank you for your advise.

I don't believe corals depend on hosting but they do tend to benefit from the fish feeding. Bump for your question, am interested in responses......I might choose to target feed my corals in the absence of fish.

I am fairly new to reef keeping myself, but my experience is that my yellow polyps have tripled in number (at least) after I finally added a fish to the tank. They seem to be enjoying the added nutrients and they are also eating the mysis I have been feeding to my firefish.

Hosting isn't an issue at all. But corals do benefit from fishes waste. Bacteria also benefits from fishes waste. You will definitely want a skimmer, especially for a coral only tank. If you take away the skimmer you'll be doing more WC not less. Corals release waste and chemicals. Do you plan of feeding your corals at all?

I know a very successful coral only breeder. He sells coral online. His total system volume is around 500 gallons. The #1 piece of equipment is a good skimmer, of which he has a massive one. He also does 80 gallons per DAY of water changes. He does supplement the coral feeding with over the counter coral food.

thank you for your advise. Yes I have ordered some coral food from bulk reef supply and i will target feed. I have also ordered the red sea four part color system. I have also set up an auto doser for part A and B through my Apex. I have ordered two large test kits to do make sure the chemical balance is right. it test for8 different levels. I have had a reef tank for just over year but only about 6 months on this scale. the skimmer is still running and I am changing the filter sock twice a week still. I also ordered reef crystals instead of instant ocean this time.
