I'll get a pick later but its green, growing only on my glass and seems to stem out from one root area/per tuff into a bunch of single strands. So what is it and how do I control it, thanks!

I need an image of in the water where it's growing. It's not fern like and you have ruled out Byropsis? or Turf?

Just looked up a bunch of images of Byropsis and I think that is what it is :( Man, there is always something going wrong with my tanks

Well that was easy, and fairly easy to resolve, but trust me something else will show up.

It's always something with my tank too, gee I do not understand why so many leave the hobby.

If it's indeed bryopsis, a Lettuce Nudi (Elysia Crispata) will eat it.
Is this for sure or is it like an emerald crab eating bubble algae

I haven't had any experience with the nudibranch, but I know for certain a one spot foxface will take care of it. It may take a month for it to recognize it as a food source, but when it does it will take care of it quickly. @Tahoe61 I know the feeling man. I have one tank that's constantly throwing curves at me.

They are not limited to only bryopsis but they do feed only on an algae diet. They use their radula to piece algal cells and feed on the sap for energy, some of the cholorplasts are then stored in their parapodia and saved for later.

Nudi's are just like emerald's for their preference to different species... (check em out, they're pretty cool, they suck the contents of an algae cell and don't actually "consume" the plant itself)

If you can put in an emerald crab or nudi to monitor and see if they go for it, it's a good idea. Though you are the biggest algae predator your tank will ever see, so it does help to get a toothbrush and scrub rocks. Just scrub and rinse in old water when you do a water change. Look into peroxide as well (brown bottle contains phenols iirc, so use 35% food grade diluted)

Just keep up on water changes and limit food a bit, it will dwindle over time.

Awesome thanks all for the quick info! I'll look into a emerald crab and Nudi, I don't think a one spot foxface will work in my tank. Its only a 40b

If def bryopsis dose kent marine tech m magnesium and get your mag levels to around 1700-1800 and keep it there until its gone.

Will the impact my corals or inverts?

It's the straight up. You have to use Kent Tech though, raise mag 100ppm/24 hours.

Raise the mag slowly, you see issues with snails first, I would not worry until you get about 1700.

From what I understand is that tech m has been reformulated and the magical ingredient removed. I have seen h2o2 dosing kill bryopsis.

Clarification: I have raised the Mag over 1800 and saw no issue, in fact I am about to do that again, but snails will be the first affected if you've gone too high.
