Need an I.D.

Man, I know this may be out there, but Gorgonian of some sort?

I thought about that, but all gorgonians have polyps. I've spent hours trying to I.d. this. Nothing in any of my books. I looked at every Rhodophyta and filamentous/calcereous algae. I won't rest 'till I figure it out.

Went to several sites last night looking. Saltcorner has 2 that looked close, it's that hairy appearence that is throwing me off. I am in agreement though that it's more than likely filamentous/calcereous algae. Once it grows out more hopefully an ID will be easier, I sure do not think it's something we commonly see in the hobby.

I can't say this was same thing but when I set up my 210 last year some of the fresh live rock sprouted some red and some green algae. Each looked like what you have. Nice smooth tubelier, branching growth with a lighter colored fuzz. Cleaners eventually ate them down to the rock. If it helps the rock came from florida.
