Just found this growing on a zoa rock. Sorry for the potato picture, but this is the best I could get. It’s the brown growth behind the zoas.

Not sure what it could be. I’m not seeing it anywhere else. Plus I haven’t added anything new to the tank in over a month.
 
Best way to remove them?
Hopefully someone with experience dealing with these guys will chime in for you, but - in the meantime - I've heard smothering them with kalk paste may work, and here are some other threads with suggestions:

Completely cut off that part of the rock/plug. Even if you lose a few of the zoas. You don't want it in your tank at all.

Essentially, frag the hydroids off and keep the remaining zoas, but keep an eye out for more on that rock.
