Need assistance w/ my Picasso clowns

I had a major outbreak of ich with my tangs in my 240 just over 8 weeks ago. With no sign of ich on my clowns, I decided to add them too with my tangs in hypo for 8 weeks. Over the past 2 weeks, my clowns developed the whitish bump/mucus/??? All over their body. I am quite positive that this isn't ich, but who knows. The salinity was kept at 1.008 for 8 weeks and I've just began a slow raise yesterday, with a projected return to my DT salinity level by Sunday. As for the clowns, they've shown no signs (other than what I'm asking about) of a sickness or stress. Both eat great and protect their PVC temp home like usual. I agree with the OP that it doesn't look like ich. To me, that looks like Brooklynella IMO. A FW dip regimen is supposed to get the parasites to fall off, but I'm not sure what effect hyposalinity has on them.

Both will benefit from formalin dips done at the correct dosage. Too strong and the gills are done

well, it could be marine velvet as just clownin around said. If that's the case, it's pretty advanced to be on the side of the fish.

After reading each of the possibles (ich, brook, and velvet), I'm not sure which route to travel. In each bit of reading, it states that the fish usually becomes slugish and looses it's care for food. Neither of these have happen in the past 2 weeks, nor has scratchinng been happening or loss of color. My tangs that have been with them show no signs and all 4 (2 tangs, 2 clowns) eat and eat like pigs. No gasping at the surface either. Sorry guys and gals, not trying to sound like pain, just concerned for my clowns (and maybe the tangs) and just don't want to dive off into a wrong conclusion and not treat the enemy. Many thanks to those that are assisting me. I'm just baffled on this coming on in the 6th week of hypo and ongoing this long (now 8+ weeks of hypo). BTW, clowns are now in a 4 gal critter cage for further observation.

Your tangs will not get the brooke from the clowns, thats why its also called clownfish disease. We have had a few cases and none of them stopped eating, got sluggish or started glancing (rubbing on objects) The only way we have beat it is to do the formalin treatments. Follow the dosing VERY CLOSELY!!! Like stated before, we can burn the gills and then there is nothing you can do for them. HTH....

Lymphocystis is cauliflower shaped if that helps in your identification. I've never seen it all over a fish before, just on the fins. Ive had a couple of fish with it and never saw an increase in mucous production with the virus either.

From your pics, it appears there is some fraying on their fins as well? I would suggest contacting nationalfishpharmacy for a free consult to determine what's going on and how to treat.

Thanks. I'm leaning towards Lymphocystis as of this point. No meds yet and they've been in their own qt for days now. Still no scratching, gill issues, rapid breathing, or loss of appetite or color. They seem to be loosing the '' tags'' that I see, so water changes occurring.

Do have any type of anenome in your tank, the anenome will help if the clown somehow host the anenome right away, I had the same problem with my snowflake, went to local fish store trying to find solutions to treat my clowns, he sold me a rose bubble tip anenome, I put the anenome in my tank, a few day later the clown host the anenome, within two day everything clear up. At this point I don't any medication would help your clownfish, your best bet is to use the anenome. I hope this help
