I need to order some carbon and was curious to hear peoples opinions of the BRS lignite and ROX!

Ive been using the ROWA from fosters but the stuff is crazy expensive, the best Ive ever used hands down, but expensive.

Thanks

i use the BRS lower grade lignite carbon, and it seems to work fine. the ROX stuff is too small for the reactor i have.

i use the lignite. i have tried the rox and love it/hate it. love it for the contact surface area, but hate it for the maintenance (clogs sponges, pita to deal with imo).

More of a PITA than the little chunks of dust?? Thats why I love the ROWA nice consistant shape and easy to clean up.

personally, yup.

i don't mind the dust anymore. i don't pre-rinse my media before putting it into the reactors. i simply fill them up, and run the outputs into a bucket to waste until it runs clear. then the outputs go back into a tie-in to my main drain line, which gets filtered through a filter sock. any residual carbon or gfo dusting is caught by the filter sock this way.

Thanks Benny, I run my carbon passively so its a bit more of a PITA to clean the bag and what not.

ahhhh...makes sense...

dunno which would be best for you in that case.
