So a few weeks ago I redid my plumbing and i'm having a issue. My turn over has gown to just about a dribble out the return. I moved sump from under the tank to the right of the stand. It comes down and about 2.5FT across the stand and then threw the side of the stand. then a 45 dagree angle down into the sump. Now the return powers everything frag tank, rex and also a line goes back into the sump to kep everything up off the bottom. When I try and send more water to the DT it over flows. Any ideas on how to fix this to get a better turn over in the DT?

Cut out the teeth and make new out of this stuff they also make it in black too!

Its not the teeth. The issue is My drain can only handle a very low turn once for some reason. Can the PVC pipe be clogging some where thats why its not draining that much?

Its a 1.5 drain that goes down about 8 inches below the tank then hits a 90 angle . Then it runs straight for about 24 inches and then hits another 90 and is positioned in a 45 degree angle with a 1.5 to 1 inch reducer going into the sump.

Maybe a snail is stuck or something. I will go after that tomm. I thought It was clogged I just wanted to see what others thought before I go screwing with everything.

Fixed it thanks guys I took the union apart where it reduced and had about 20 snails in it.

haha was followin thread cuz im about to hook up a sump to the left of my DT because of tank sitting on a cabinet/dresser instead of a true tank stand that can handle a sump and wanted to see if i'm gonna run into problems with the turnover rate, relieved to hear yours was a snail issue instead of plumbing!! congrads on the cleanup...good luck with the new sump placement

Why do you reduce it to 1" ?? imo drain plumbing should never be reduced..... just my .02cents.... btw nice to hear you figured it out

I did the opposite I went 1" then before it hits a 45 in my sump made it go to 2" it is super quiet.
