Hey everyone! I’m looking for suggestions on a new inhabitant for for my 13.5 gallon nano reef. Currently I have 1 Snowflake Clownfish and 1 small Yellow Blenny. It would be nice to have a fish that’s active and goes in and out of the rocks. Certainly something small because of the tank size. I also plan on starting to add corals in a couple months. Thanks for the suggestions, and I hope everyone has a good holiday season!

I would suggest a tailspot blenny, but you already have one. Maybe a Clown Goby

The Cardinal would be good, but Firefish are too skittish for my tastes and are often scared of their own shadow which causes them to hide. My Purple Firefish ended up hiding more often than not and was the number one target of any assertive fish that ended up in my tank. Not a good situation in a small 13.5 gallon with established clowns and a blenny (which can be assertive once established).

Maybe a clown or cleaner goby? A watchman/shrimp goby may be at risk of fighting with your blenny though, so I’d pass on those.

But personally I’d just leave it there and make it a predominately invert tank. A tank that size is worthy of most of the more difficult/sensitive/reclusive inverts such as Pom Pom crabs, harlequin shrimp (if you can somehow have access to starfish for them to eat) and sexy anemone shrimp (obviously need an anemone). I wouldn’t recommend the harlequins though unless you can keep up with maintenance. The constant eating and excrement of starfish will be messy.

Hey all, thanks for the suggestions. I ended up getting a Six Line Wrasse. Unfortunately, he passed away. My water parameters were all good too. I even had the LFS test just to be sure. Sad, but it does happen in this hobby.

The LFS was nice enough to give me a store credit, so I ended up getting a Royal Gramma and a pair of Sexy Shrimp. Good thing is, this will allow me to have more underwater critters in the long run.
