So I have a 20g Lps reef that im setting up a sump on, the sump will have a refugium section and i want to know what i should do with it. The tank is not run with dosing or ultra low nutrients or anything crazy, just 25% weekly WC. Im planning to put LR rubble in it and looking for cool things like critters and or algae and plants to put in it that will be helpful or just other general stuff to do with it to help the tank, light suggestions ect.

I use a sump/fuge set up underneath my DT. Skimmer on one side, return in the center and fuge on the other side. CFL bulb (5000k color) for lighting. I do add copepods to the fuge sometimes just in case for my mandarin. Fuge also has chaeto, flame algae nad LR.

I like chaeto but there are a variety of macro algae you can add that will do well and polish your water

Well chaeto is great because it doesn't go asexual but it can be a pain if it start breaking apart and growing all over. I haven't tried any others though

Never had any problems I with chaeto and I have a massive pile of it in my sump. I feed heavy so it grows like crazy.
If you go with chaeto find a local forum r reef club and catch someone on trim day cause on ebay it's not cheap. mine started as a small patch in a algaGen tisbe pods bag a year ago and now I have tons of it

I was never able to grow cheato so I switched to feather calurpa with a sand bed in my fuge. It grows well and makes for a great natural filter sock. Nothing gets past it.

hmmm ill look into macro algae then, any critters that might be helpful to get?
