Need Help and Advice ASAP

Alright I went out of town on Friday. I just came home and realized my frag tank's light timer is broken. The lights have been on since Friday at 3pm. They are off now because I unplugged them. What do I do? Do I just replace the timer and let the lights come back on for their normal schedule or do I keep them off for a day and turn them back on tomorrow?

I have had this happen to me a couple of different times on a couple of different tanks...man my luck...The first time I just replaced the timer and then kept the lights going normally. About a day later I had a terrible GHA outbreak. The other tank that this happened to I left the lights off for a 24 hr period then just resumed the schedule as regular, and had no ill side effects...just my .02. Good Luck

just change the timers and go back to normal schedule. I dont see why not? On the reef there can be thunderstorms that block the sun etc.

Leaving them off for a day would not hurt if that is a concern of yours. I had the same thing happen to me and I left mine off the next day after running my lights for 18hrs.

I have had this happen to me on my 1120 gal frag tank and I just replaced the timer and all is good. the coral ned time to proses the energy that was built up. you should be ok

well they have had about 48 hours of light. I hope everything makes it.....

I would leave them off for a day and then resume with normal lighting time.

That is what I needed to hear. Now I will be able to sleep tonight. I honestly freaked out when I figured out what had happen. All the other tanks where off but it was on. Then I looked at the timer and it was in the off position but the lights where on.

Quality digital timers are where its at, they dont bind and fail like the old click wheels do, well worth the extra $5-$10 IMO

Happy to say everything is fine. The tank has just some brown algae but it will go away.
