Hi guys, so this is my very first reef tank and I'm having trouble with the placement of my live rock. This is it currently. I'm wondering if I need to break apart some of the larger rocks or should I move anything around? Thanks

The pieces on the sides against the glass is gonna make it hard to clean in those areas. Other than that I think it looks pretty good.

Yep, you definitely want a gap between rock and glass. I would take a couple of the little pieces and put them on top of one of the rock stacks on the side to add a bit more height too.

Here's the advice I found very helpful when I first aquascaped. Think tripods!

The first time I built the Berlin Wall....it looked terrible! A big pile of rock!!! A local club member told me about tripod building. That is, put down three rocks and now find a rock to cover that. Continue doing this out and up and you'll have an "open" wall for the fish to hide.

Good pointin the gap. Be sure that you have enough room to get your glass cleaning device between the glass and the rock. Also you want the rock work to be "open" enough to allow flow through and around the rock structure with no "dead" spots. I use the popular by guess and by gosh approach.

Welcome! They way i look at aquascaping is to make it as natural for the fish as you can. What i mean is allow the fish to swim around and through the rock work.
