Have a question or two for ya'll. I am going to try and build my own frag tank for our local frag swap coming up and was wondering if any of you fine folks had any tips or tricks for doing it?
The tank I want to build is going to be approx. 24x18x8 and of course rimless. I think I'm going to use 1/4 in. glass with beveled edges and probably use GE silicone I.

Thanks,
Doug

Also, anyone know where I can find some good aquarium silicone online for less than $10 a (caulking gun)tube....

Slotting 2x4s, to sit atop the glass when you are putting it together, helps a one man job. The slots line up and hold the glass panels together while you work.

That would make it more helpful, as it is being used to hold the glass in place, but its not necessary. I've seen people use tape also, to hold it in place. this is while doing a smaller tank, the larger tanks its easier to use the 2x4's.

Momentive rtv 104 or 107. One is clear other is black. Same stuff used by tank manufactures. Adheres to glass. Works great, used on several sumps for gluing in baffles. Grangers sells it for the cheapest I have found

I just found where someone recommended the momentive rtv 108 silicone... Anyone know the difference? Great tip on the silicone! Thank you.

Just use the Home Depot 100% GE Silicone. There is no reason to get all fancy.

If you were closer I can let you borrow mine.

But I'm a fancy boy;) Looked like really good stuff and $10 with free ship saves me a trip to H.depot.

Thanks for the offer LOL!

why not build it out of acrylic?

I don't have a router or the skills, and for me glass is just easier and less expensive.
