Hey everybody. I just started saltwater about 2 months ago. Eventually I want to grow coral. Being that I have very little experience with equipment I need some help choosing a light (s). I have a 55 gal tank. 48"x 12.5". I'm considering the reef radiance currently but I would really like one with a timer but not a deal breaker. Obviously looking for best bang for my buck. Price range is $400 or less. Thanks for the help!

Look at some tanks and pick out lighting that you like, otherwise you will end up with what other people like instead of what you like. Take it from someone that has bought numerous fixtures, reefradiance included, and ended up selling them because they were not right for me! And by the way, that bargain priced LED fixture is worth a little more than half of what you paid for it 15 minutes after you buy it. So you want to KNOW that it is the right one before you buy it!

Welcome to the hobby! Hope you are ready for this addiction! I'd suggest either a T5/LED combo or if you want to go LED only, Kessil is the way to go. You won't be disappointed either way!

I just bought a current orbit marine for my 55 and it is awesome the range is amazing and it's programable so I don't have to worry about turning it on or off through the day! It is always adjustable. I got it on amazon for 120 ish? I would highly recommend it!

I have two of them... One on a 120 and one on a 75. Programming is easy and corals grow like weeds....note the growth in below pics...
