Hello friends. I've recently set up a 54gal bow front from the contents of a someone's 90gal. The power head that was in the 90 is not adjustable, and is too powerful for the 54gal bow front.
My question.. how do you calculate the right size power head? Since this tank is not a rectangle , are there other things to consider? I think I'd prefer a power head that can be adjusted. Which would you recommend? Thank you.

I have an icecap 1k gyre on my 40g and love it. It’s programmable and covers most of the tank.

Jebao powerheads move alot of water and have a nice controller at a decent price point. I use ow series, 10, 25, and 40's. In my 3 systems.
Either of these would work well.

I like Tunze and Jebao. Very different price points and warranty but those are what I always seem to come back to using after trying other types.

Correct about Tunze. I have a few powerheads that are 15 years old and still running strong.

That's great, thank you. Is there an equation to determine the proper size for the tank? My tank is 54gal corner bow front , so I'd think moving water is a bit different than a rectangled shape tank.

I'm leaning towards a pump that offers a wider angle and a lower velocity. Do you have thoughts on that?

They can move some water.
They have 2 wave modes an else mode a constant and one that will run for x amount of time and then shut off.
The 25 is alot smaller and I used them on my 120 and upgraded to 40's when the tank started to fill in.
I would lean toward the 40's as you can just slow them down as they have 8 speed settings.

What are the dims of your tank?

The height is 23", the length of the 2 sides are 28" and the bow front is ~43"
