need help creating a seal through the over flow

i was redoing my plumbing and i was making a 1.5" hole for the elbow to fit through the over flow but it came out a little to big for the pvc glue to join it to the plastic and maybe to big for paddy to properly seal it. i was wondering if i use some type of foam to seal it or should i get as mush putty as i need to seal it. i am open to anything that works and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Silicone may work

Put a bulkhead in it.

A uniseal may work if you don't want a bulkhead showing.

This is kinda what bulkheads are made for... Silicone won't stick all that well permanently to PVC or acryllic. You would be best with a bulkhead or uniseal I would think.

I use 1/4 thick rubber gasket material for this. Which I get from a local gasket maker for $5 for a square foot.

Why not just use a properly sized bulkhead? As mentioned above that is what they are made for.

i couldn't not find a gasket fitting anywhere today , ill have to order one online. i tried using a bulkhead but it won't seal it i had to cut the hole at an angle so it made an ellipse the drill did not fit in the tank with the bit in on it so out of frustration not to do it by hand i did that.

Measure the major (long) axis of the elipse.

And the "minor" (short) axes as well.

Then go to home depot/lowes etc etc in thepvc plumbing section

Find a male reducing fitting whose threads fit inside the minor axes.

and find a reducing bushing whose flange is at least 1/4" larger than the major axes the male reducing fitting fits.

Cut some rubber gaskets to seal the flange of the reducing bushing inside the tank.

Put some teflon tape on the male fittings.

Assemble it all and see if it leaks.
