So far everything is working fine in are tank. The skimmer skims, are filter filters and so on. How ever there is one issue. Fast algea growth on the glass of the tank. We manage are lighting fairly well. The live rock and substrate is also vary healthy. We have several fish and hermits doing the job of algea control. We tried snails but the hermits would eat them on as soon as they could. My wife doesn't want to create a competitive algea biom so the question becomes now what's the alternative? Is there a kind of plant that can be placed into salt water that will out compete the algea, or eat the extra that would be amune to naughty hermit crabs.

Your hermits are eating your snails? If so, then they're basically being starved. If they can't find food on your rock work then you likely have either very rogue hermits or theres simply no food source. You may also simply have a clean up crew that is too big for your system?

About refugiums. I looked it up but she didn't like the idea. I don't mind it but it's a new concept. Can u point me to a how to guide. About the hermits nothing seems wrong. Only a couple have died sense introduction. The others thrive and are vary active.

Hmm google macroalgae. Some are beautiful. Also google display refugium. The down side to having the macros in the tank is the hit and miss of who in your tank likes to eat them:)
For me, my main form of nutrient export is my refugium.

as far as your hermits. in a new tank there may not be enough to eat yet. Not sure why retailers suggest such large crews, I have 4 hermits in my 55g.

Not bad, good for a nano. Not sure this would make much difference for a larger tank, seem to be much smaller than the CPR models? How well are these built? The CPR models include a rio pump, but they're meh so so; ok for this application I guess.
I have had the same 2 for 4 or 5 years now. one large one small . The large in the 30g is pretty amazing.
they do need to be cleaned out. CPR I assume too. easy to do on WC day.
