Need help deciding what equipment I should get.

Purple pseudos are pretty mean fish and can make it difficult to add fish later. If your set on one, add it last but the royal gramma can be just as pretty purple color, little more cryptic than the pseudo though.

Hi I am starting a reef and fish I have a 29 gallon tank what should I buy 1 fluaval 206 canister filter for $ 119.99 or TMS 3 stage 265GPH External fish marine coral canister filter ( great for coral +Reef $54.95 or ping Kay 5 stage canister 200GPH with 9watt UV Sterilizer 525 GPH for $ 68.99 and a coral life Biocube protein skimmer 14-29 gallon tank . If you are going with a canister, fluaval is the way to go. skip the UV sterilizer and sink some more cash into a skimmer

I am not familiar with any of those products.I know that you will want to keep your canister clean in order to keep it running effectively.That's why I would agree with @jsker and invest what I could into a skimmer.

I lost track of it, but one of the most amazing 40g systems from a R2R member had nothing but 2 powerheads and heater. Personally, I would add a skimmer to that to help increase the safe bioload. I would only use a canister filter when doing maintenance to get particulate out of the water.

That is the beauty of this hobby. So many right ways to do it.
