I'm having trouble dialing in my dosing on my biocube 29. I'm using bright wells a and b. I have been dosing a syringe full of calcium in morning and a syringe full of alk at night. About every three days after testing. But the more I dose, more unstable my water gets. Alk falls rapidly. But calcium stays at about 400-450. But it falls to 350 in one day some times.
Is there an easy guide to get this under control? I feel like I'm chasing numbers.

You first need a consistent daily consumption rate. You can get this by testing every day and figuring out how much your tank consumes. Once you have this target you can use the Reef Chemistry Calculator to figure out how much you need to dose:

A "syringe" full isn't a very precise measurement... You need to make sure the measurement is in ML and based on consumption.

Keep track of your parameters and how much you are dosing per day. When you see your numbers and the dose amount you'll see a trend. Excel is wonderful for this.

Also if you are unstable, test your magnesium. If it is out of range it is hard to raise Alk as they are dependent on each other...

Post a test log and we can try determine a better dose amount.

Your right. I should have been specific. It is a 5 ml syringe. I will test tonight and post my present results and past log results. I test with salifert, redsea, and seachem for all three. They are all about the same result.
