Need help fragging acans.

Looks like your planning on doing a lot of fragging you might want to look into one of these
There's actually videos of fragging corals on the site too
ReefKeeper Saw, the Coral Frag Saw

Im not big into fragging yet. this will be my first time with a stony coral. The inland will definately be a future purchase if this works out at the rate these are growing. Thanks for chiming in :)

For an acan like that you will destroy it without a wet band saw or wet tile saw. The dremel will take forever trying to get through all that rock.

The inland saw is on back order everywhere and inland doesn't know when a part they are waiting for will be in to build more. I just ordered a gryphon because I will be fragging 5-7 acan colonies.

Wet tile saw will work but it tears up the coral so there is more loss. However the price is $50-$100

A wet band saw has very little loss and you can turn while you are cutting to avoid cutting through heads. Then price on wet band saws are $260-$380.

I went with the band saw because it will pay for itself with the precision ill be able to cut with and less loss.

I agree with you. it would be time consuming and i really dont want to to harm these colonies. I am also wondering if once i cut the growth skirts if the colony will separate from the rock. they were not glued to the rock when placed in those locations. Thanks for your input.

It should only be attached where the new growth has occurred. So just the outer ring should be attached. Not positive though.
