Need help getting rid of shrooms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:squigglemouth: Hey guys, as the title states I need some help. I like many purchased mushrooms thinking that they would be pretty cool and easy to care for. I liked the fact that they tend to multiply but I never thought that they would spread so rapidly and take over. I really never thought that they would sting the surrounding corals and cause many of them to wither away and even kill of some of them.

So I am turning to my R2R family in hopes that someone may offer some advice on how to get rid of them once and for all. Before you do, I guess I should start off by saying that I am not in a position to remove the rocks out of the tank except the separate ones that the mushrooms came on which I already did but the shrooms have spread out to the surrounding rocks that now house other corals so that option is out the window.

Has anyone done away with theirs??? How did you do it???? The coral world needs to know as they must be stopped

I baller up purple epoxy and poked the mushroom until it withered small and then I placed epoxy on it. I caught mine early. I am not sure how far yours are

Acan echinata, more specific orange crush, aka the coral killer in my tank.
I use this acan to ride myself of unwanted corals at times (and sometimes it decides to kill ones I really liked). It has a reach of about 2-3" around its farthest edges. It has eaten many of my mushrooms, some ugly palys and even helped me get ride of purple plating monti that grows like a weed.

I have a few on a few different areas. What did you use to poke them? & do you think I could use a blade to cut them off at the base and then apply the epoxy?

That would work! I have a pair of hemostats that come in handy for these types of things. Maybe grab the mushroom and try ripping it off with hemostats or using a razor blade to cut it off of the rock. Either way you will get it off the rock or it will recede to a manageable size where you can then ball the epoxy right over the top of them. Make sure you use a mirror and look behind your rock work. Mine were building a reserve colony just out of eye site about 5 shrooms strong.

A double saddle butterfly will destroy them in 2 weeks. I brought one for aiptSia. And after that was gone he turns to my 120worth of mushroom. And then starved to death.
