I'm by no means an expert but looks like some type of eggs. I have read that there are certain types of flukes that lay their eggs directly on the fish hosts gills. Not saying that is what you have but just food for thought. There are certainly more qualified feeders who will hopefully come to aid you. @Humblefish is the top candidate that comes to mind. Perhaps giving the firefish a freshwater dip to see if any flukes fall off will give you a starting point. How is he acting? Is he healthy? Any major changes in behavior since you saw whatever this is?

This is exactly what it is. Thanks, now catching the dart fish will be challenging. I have a lot of live rock.
Yeah only time ive caught mine is when i upgraded and took out all my rock first . You can try a fish trap like this.

We've seen this a couple of times now.... every time it is on a firefish. I think each person tried the FW dips and prazi - like humble mentioned- but they didn't seem to work. Best of luck catching him!

Thanks, they rarely come out, only when feeding. Purple dart keep chasing new dart fish back to their hiding place.
