Agreed, the forked tips are unlike any hydroids I've seen. The other possibility is benthic formaniferans. There's a seemingly endless variety in nearly every shape and color immaginable. Many branch in a similar manner. They're often misidentified as sponges, hydroids, etc. Harmless filter feeders.Yeah, I could not find any photos anywhere of something that has formed tips like that!
