I've had my take set up for about 9 months, no new rock or anything for at least 6 months. About a month or so ago, I found an "alien" on the underside of one of my rocks. It hasn't done anything- no growth, no movement. But, what IS it? I'm attaching 2 pictures in hopes that someone might know what it is. Thank you!

ok... let me explain, when I first checked there was no pics, just links, and Mic said "oof" so I thought it was a joke AND it's in DIY not Hitch Hikers.
Sorry.
I apologize that it's in diy, I'm new here and learning to navigate.

Sponge. other possibility is Macro algae but texture points to sponge

tunicates?

Also, it's less than 1/4" around...

If it’s hard, I think it’s a foraminiferan. Completely benign.

harmless and welcome to the reef gonna love it here

Look like sponge.
