Hi, can anyone help me figure out what are these thing that showing. The tank has been running for 8 months without no problem, but around 2 weeks ago when i started dosing microbacter7 for a week these thing start showing up in my tank, skimmer, and reactor. It keep jamming the reactor filter within 3 days after i cleaned evrything. I had a bacterial bloom for 2 days, did 30% WC and turn on all my UVC lights, it does help clearing up the water. Phos level 0.08 nitrate 10

Anyone can help me figure it what are these thing and how to handle it. Thank you.

Welcome to Reef2Reef and sorry for your troubles!

I’m not sure exactly what you’ve got here (the color reminds me of a sponge, but it looks more like a bacterial or algal film), but hopefully someone who knows will chime in for you here soon (bump).

Looks to be bacterial and may be cyano bacteria . Blocking light which is cyano's food source will confirm if it subsides after three days with no light

Consider starting a tank journal.

Why add bacteria at 8 months into startup?
Because i just add plenty of fish recently, and i thought its gonna help to lower and maintain my phosphate level. I guess i was wrong :downcast-face-with-sweat:

OK

I see little point on water changes unless you are syphoning out the brown stuff when you water change.

Also, neither phosphate or nitrate that you indicated are high. What are you growing in your 8 month old tank that needs lower numbers? Would you supply a full tank shot under white light.

consider using a uv sterilizer to control spores that spread the invasion and high quality activated carbon to remove accumulated DOC that feeds the brown stuff.

Also consider using protein skimmer to remove excess bacteria in your system, which will also decrease your accumulated DOC, dissolved organic carbon.
