it could be early Lymphocystis. it's an infection that can be treated with antibiotics. if it's not treated the fish will lack the ability to swim and will eventually die.

I don’t think it’s lympho. It’s usually localized to fins.

Even if it is it’s a viral infection and antibiotics would have no impact.

Are you sure? I'm told a bacterial treatment helps kill it

Yes, positive. It’s caused by a virus and none of the antibiotics we employ in the tank have impact on viruses. Actually very few do and are only used as secondary treatment, mostly unknown if they help suppress secondary symptoms

1. Does the fish have any other symptoms (scratching/flashing)?, swimming into high flow areas etc.
2. Do other fish in the tank have any other symptoms?
3. Have you actively seen the other fish biting at the mucus of the tang?
4. How old is the tang (i.e. what size)?
5. What do you feed? are your parameters all good?

He does flash but ive been treating for ich for about 7 weeks with hypo.. No other fish has symptoms like the blue tang does.. He does not swim into flow and yea the juvi angel is consistantly chasing him and picking.. The blue tang is about 5 inches from head to tail ive had him since he was an inch or so.. Just did couple test nitrate/ammonia . ammonia is at .25 via api test kit. Nitrate at 0
I feed nori , PE mysis and new life spectrum algaemax pellets and regular new life spectrum pellets.

Thanks - I would suggest - you cant treat CI with hypo salinity. But it doesnt look like the fish has CI anyway. Hyposalinity can damage mucus membranes - and make them more likely to be damaged by other things. I have also seen such lesions on larger tangs (like 5+ inches).

I Appreciate the input... How long can i safely keep them in hypo ? I was told 1 month after the last spot falls off you can take out the fish but there is always tat 1 spot.. Almost 2 months in hypo but all the fish besides the blue tang is doing much better then when the outbreak happened. Thanks
