Need help identifying hitchhiker!

Anyone know what this might be? At first I thought it was a dead gsp but I’ve noticed a few pop up on my tank recently. Only a handful of them but I’ve noticed new ones so it must be growing. Pretty small, slightly smaller than a gsp polyp

Yup seems like you’re right. Any thoughts on the best way to get rid of them? Also I recently had a fish die for no apparent reason—could this have been the reason?

No they won’t harm your fish. If you can remove the rock, take it out scrape them off, rinse and then return the rock to the tank.
