So heres the story. I have two red linka starfish that I've had for a few months now. In the time Ive had them I've observed them scavenge the tank for food and repeatedly return to one particular rock that had a sponge growing on it. Over time they devoured the sponge and the rock is now completely bare. This sponge was a hitchhiker as i never purchased it. It grew naturally and eventually took over the rock until the starfish found it. Im trying to identify this particular type of sponge to see if I can find more of it for them.

Any and all information or comments are welcome and appreciated. thanks for reading

Any sponge will do. Mustard yellow is a common one. Check your lfs and local clubs. I dont have linkas because I have a pretty nice sponge collection. ID is tough.
A good phyto will encourage sponge growth.

I tried about 6 different sponges so far they only eat this one. I do dose live phyto every so often.

Wow really? The linka I had cleaned all the rocks.
I found a couple sponge guides online but they we incomplete as its a huge subject. LOTS of sponges. Guess thats what you get after a few billion years.
I google key worded ID sponge encrusting and or ornamental species got some results.
