Hi everyone:
My name is Marvin, I'm new here and a noob at this hobby, well sort of, I was in the hobby several, several and several years ago and just re-introduced myself
back into the hobby therefore im a noob since a lot of things have changed.

I have a 75g with a few fish and corals that's been setup for about a year now. The frags and rocks that I have were given to me by a good friend of mine and
the frags have had these (see pics below) things growing out of them, a few have moved from the frag and onto my rocks and have gotten much larger from when
I first noticed them. Recently I've noticed more and more of them growing on the frags and on other rocks as well, I would ask my friend but he's out of town so i'm
reaching out for help on here. Hopefully someone can tell me what they are and should i be concerned about them over growing in my tank.
thanks to everyone for replying. I hope the pictures are good enough, if not please let me know and i'll try to re-take them.

Also, if this is posted in the wrong area please point me to the right direction, thanks again.

Marvin.

Apista anemone is what I belive that is. I could be wrong though so someone else might chime in and confirm. From what I have read and seen here they are a pest. They will grow like weeds and take over a tank.

Marvin, those are aptaisia, which is a very pesky type of anemone. You want to get rid of them because they are prolific and they sting corals. You can remove the rock they are on if that's possible. You can take the rock out temporarily and super glue the little bugger. Or what I have done is make a paste of kalkwasser and get a syringe and shoot the paste down its mouth. Lemon juice also works. Lemon juice is acidic, kalkwasser is alkaline. Most reef tanks don't need their alkalinity brought down with lemon juice which is why I prefer kalkwasser.

Oh wow, thanks for your help, This would explain why my frags are not doing so well. I have beating myself trying to figure out what i was doing wrong, but now i understand.. they are attached to a few of my frags so if i inject with kalkwasser will the pals and zoa's be ok?

I have had a lot of success with joes juice as well. But yes, carpet bomb them until they are gone because they grow like weeds
