Need Help Identifying This

Hi. I noticed this stuff in my tank, and I was wondering if anyone could help me to identify it and if it is good, bad, or neutral to be in a mixed reef tank?
I took some off a rock so that I could take a better picture of it, attached below. Thanks for any help.

Looks like Ulva.

Ulva. I love having that macroalgae in my sump. It is a fast grower depending on nutrient availability. I had to pay to get some in my tank.

IMO, as pretty as it is, I wouldnt put it in the display tank. Mainly because it can be under control for months then all of the sudden, its everywhere.

Depends on preferences:

If kept in display tank, then there could be a maintenance schedule tied to that in order to keep the tank looking the way you prefer. It will attach to surfaces as it does in my fuge, but stays in isolated.

If there is a fuge/sump option, moving it there and making sure it can grow there before eliminating it from the display is a good way to export nutrients, and less maintenance compared to keeping it in the display. I remove quite a bit when I harvest for maintenance.

It really does grow fast in *my* system.

Okay thanks. I’ll just remove all of it. There doesn’t appear to be that much. I don’t have a sump, so I guess it’ll have to go in the garbage

Agreed. There may be some regret later down the road if it is completely removed. In addition, over time in this hobby preferences always evolve. I would just contain it and think it over.

There is no right or wrong with either option though.

*Many have paid to get some in there systems.

No Panic. It Is Ulva and as a sea lettuce its good at filtering nitrates from your tank, and also an excellent food source for tangs and other herbivorous eating fish such as rabbits. Its easy to care for especially under bright lighting and makes great pod food.
