Need help identifying

Does anybody have any idea what this could be growing out of my zoa?

Tough to say - clearer pic might help.

It looks like there might be some "frills" on the outside edges of the protrusions? If so, perhaps dead/dying algae?

If not, I would guess some sort of sponge...
